STRATEGIC AIMS
In identifying how best to fulfil its mission statement, the College management and Governors have identified the following key aims which they will seek to achieve:
- to raise the knowledge and skill levels and to inspire everyone working with, or interested in, flowers, plants, animals, and responsible for [or associated with] the use of the countryside, parks, gardens and open spaces;
- to encourage those who can access the college or its centres to
- i. Gain the skills necessary so they can contribute to the improvement of green and open spaces in Greater London and the surrounding area.
- ii. Appreciate and enjoy the wider countryside both within and outside Greater London.
- to promote increased understanding of environmental and sustainability issues and the importance of recycling and waste management across the land based and related industries;
- to become a centre of excellence in all areas of the land based and associated industries serviced by the college;
- to work with others as appropriate to provide access across the region to high quality land based learning and training opportunities whilst protecting the college's intellectual rights;
- to encourage and support life-long learning by providing a range of quality learning experiences delivered in a flexible way to cater for individuals needs, recognising in particular that many of those in the land based industries are self-employed or work for small businesses;
- to promote equality of access and opportunity to all those who can benefit from utilising the colleges facilities;
- to invest in staff by developing appropriate policies and strategies to recruit, retain and develop them and to achieve the college's aims and goals;
- to attract and use all available resources to support Capel's key aims as identified above and use all appropriate opportunities to:
a. generate income for reinvestment in the activities of the Corporation;
b. raise public awareness of the College, its mission and key aims.
