Garden Design Courses
at Capel Manor, Enfield

Our Garden Design programmes have a well deserved national reputation for the quality of training offered and the outcomes achieved.
Former students have developed successful design practices and stimulating careers working in the UK and abroad. Many have become full members of the Society of Garden Designers and several have been featured in eminent journals and books on garden design. In addition a number have designed gardens for TV series such as Small Gardens with Jo Swift and ITV Garden Makers. Our ongoing association with sponsors Anglo Aquarium has enabled our students to attain outstanding success at Hampton Court. They achieved a Gold Medal and the Tudor Rose for 3 consecutive years. At Chelsea we have also achieved gold, silver and bronze medals.
We offer a full time Foundation Degree course in Garden Design alongside a programme of part-time day, evening, or short courses.We attract large numbers of mature students who are looking to establish a new and exciting career.

We also have Garden Design Courses at our landbased study centres in the heart of London - Gunnersbury Park and Regent's Park.
Foundation Degree in Garden Design
This programme may be taken full-time over two years or part-time over 4 years. It offers a sound vocational training in all aspects of Garden Design. Students completing the HE qualification may progress on to an honours programme.
Part-time day courses
These courses have been developed to respond to learning needs in the industry. Students who are considering a career in Garden Design are required to take the NOCN Foundation Course for Garden Design which is a hybrid course offering drawing and graphic skills as well as a very good grounding in horticulture and plant knowledge. On successfully completing the Foundation course students may progress onto the NOCN Garden Design: Principles and Practice course or the Plants & Planting Design course. These courses give students a very sound training in all aspects of garden design.
Evening Courses
Students who can only attend college in the evening are able to follow a very similar course of study as the day time students by taking the Introduction to Garden & Planting Design followed by the Garden Design & Planting Design courses in successive years.
Computer Aided Drawing
This course is for those who have already taken a course in Garden Design and wish to use Computer Aided Drawing in their design practice.The software used is Vectorworks, a version of Mini-Cad.
