City and Guilds Certificate in Horticultural Skills (9352)
Part-time at Enfield, Gunnersbury Park, Regent's Park or Crystal Palace

Capel Manor College has devised a ‘hands on’ part time 36 week programme (one day per week) between 10am and 3pm, starting September and finishing in term time July.
An ideal programme for avid amateurs and those wanting to move into horticulture as a professional. It offers practical knowledge and hands on experience. An excellent foundation programme for beginners.
The Course
This nationally recognised programme consists of one certificate: Certificate in Horticultural Skills (9352). The awarding body City & Guilds validates the scheme.
Course Content
The topic areas covered over the 36 weeks of study include:
- Growing trees, shrubs and roses (selection, establishment, care and maintenance)
- Growing flowers (herbaceous and annual plants, care and maintenance)
- The lawn (selection, establishment, care and maintenance)
- Propagating plants (vegetatively and from seed)
- Use of a range of tools, equipment and machinery
- Health and safety
- Plant Identification
Assessment
There will be a minimum of twelve practical tasks assessed.
Qualification Gained
On completion of this programme you will have the opportunity of achieving:
C&G 9352 – Certificate in Horticultural Skills
This course offers progression to City & Guilds Practical Gardening Certificate 0062.
Progression
Successful completion of the C&G 9352 Certificate in Horticultural Skills will enable you to progress to C&G 0062 Certificate in Gardening.
Entry Requirements
Female, unemployed, a willingness to learn new skills, to undertake practical tasks and/or to progress into Horticulture as a career or as a volunteer.
Fees
Free, PPE and hand tools supplied. Childcare and travel support may be available.
Additional Costs for Equipment
Students will need to have steel toe-cap boots, secateurs and wet weather gear for inclement weather. A lever arch file with dividers and a note pad are also required. It is also useful to have a camera to record your progress and help support your portfolio of evidence.

This course takes place at Capel Manor’s main campus in Bullsmoor Lane, Enfield, Middlesex EN1 4RQ, at Gunnersbury Park Centre, Popes Lane, W3 8LQ, at Regent’s Park Centre, The Store Yard, Inner Circle Regent’s Park NW1 4NR, and at Crystal Palace Centre, The Croft (formerly The Farm), Station Gate (by Crystal Palace Station) SE19.
