This one
year course is unique to Capel Manor College and it aims to equip
students new to the industry with the knowledge and practical skill
required of the hard landscape gardener.
The
Course
The course runs for 33 weeks from September to July. Students attend
for one day each week, from 9.00am to 4.00pm. A wide range of topics
and lectures are supported with slides and videos, as well as many
practical sessions.
Prospective students should note that the course is designed as
an introduction to hard landscaping skills and knowledge and may
not be suitable for students who already have wide ranging skills
in hard landscape construction.

Gained
Success
on this course leads to the City & Guilds Amenity Horticulture
(0220) Phase 2 Year 3 Certificate in Hard Landscape and Garden Construction.
There is also the opportunity to gain specialist units of NVQ3 Amenity
Horticulture.
Assessment
Assessment is by coursework assessments and an end of year examination.
Entry
Requirements
You are welcome to visit the College to discuss and
identify with the course tutor a study programme which will help
towards your intended career. All students are assessed on an individual
basis but the normal entry requirements are:
- NVQ
Level 2 Amenity Horticulture or
- RHS
General Certificate in Horticulture or
- Other
qualifications of equivalent standard
Additional
Costs
Students will require steel toecap footwear, overalls, wet weather
clothing and writing materials. Many students like to keep a photographic
record of their time at Capel Manor and students should budget for
theses costs in addition to travelling and living expenses when
making course decisions.
Venue
This course takes place at Capel Manors main
site in Bullsmoor Lane, Enfield, where the 30 acres estate, laid
out in a wide range of gardening styles, provides an excellent teaching
area for plants and landscaping materials.
