Design Workshop led by Wayne Hemingway
31st July 2007
`This summer, Capel Manor College has been working in partnership with Groundwork UK, on a pilot Continuing Professional Development programme for its landscape architects and associated staff."

The photographs show the final day`s session - a Design Workshop led by Wayne Hemingway, an internationally renowned designer, the aim of which was to:-
Explore approaches to landscape design, particularly in relation to sustainability, socio-economic regeneration and community development. Wayne outlined and illustrated many of the design projects he has been involved in and the impact which creative and imaginative landscaping can have on the local environment/quality of life.
After Wayne`s very interesting and stimulating presentation, the Groundwork group had a guided tour of selective parts of the College grounds, led by Roger Sygrave Gardens Manager and Adrian Stockdale Lecturer School of Horticulture. This too they found extremely informative, being particularly interested in some of the designs, plants, maintenance, landscaping and sustainability aspects.
Delegates travelled to Capel Manor from different Groundwork Trusts including Nottigham, Leeds, Manchester, Stoke on Trent, Birmingham and East and West London.
And the College`s Minibus service helped the majority with their journey accross London, by collecting and returning them to London`s Tottenham Hale underground.
The overall Pilot Programme comprised 5 separate one or half day sessions, covering - Business Development, Selecting and Managing Contracts, Managing Landscape Projects and a Planning Update, culminating in this Design Workshop, held at Capel Manor`s Enfield site. The other sessions took place at Groundwork`s canal side head quarters in Birmingham) .
The Pilot Programme was co-ordinated by Beryl Little Head of Capel Consultancy in conjunction with Hazel Langley Groundwork`s Training and Development Manager.
