(Edexcel) BTEC National Diploma in Animal Management

Animal Care Courses in the heart of London

This two year full time course has been designed to prepare students for a rewarding and professional career in the Animal Industry.  Whilst having a strong practical basis in animal husbandry, the course also covers key elements of business administration and animal science, with 6 weeks of work placement at the end of the first year and during the second year of study.

The Course
The BTEC National Diploma in Animal Management is a practical, work related course.  You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.  As well as learning about the employment area you have chosen, you develop the skills you need to start or progress a career.

= 3 A Levels, Full time or Part time.

Course Content
The course consists of 18 units – six core units, which everyone takes and twelve specialist units.  The specialist units enable you to study particular areas in depth.

Note: certain units will only run if enough learners opt for them.

Assessment
All units are assessed and graded as pass, merit or distinction and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded as a triple grade – PPP to DDD.

Qualification Gained
Successful learners achieve the BTEC National Diploma in Animal Management.   

Learners go into careers in areas such as veterinary practices, kennels, animal charities, zoos, animal collections, stud farms.

All students are strongly encouraged to attend the Summer School Foundation Certificate in Animal Care to ensure course choice is appropriate to their requirements.

Note: Prospective students will need to show a high level of dedication to the care and welfare of animals, and must be aware of the considerable commitment required for a successful and rewarding career in the animal care industry. A significant part of the practical work for the course takes place outside and students should be prepared for outdoor work in all weathers.
