Examinations Officer - Enfield                          £20,182 to £22,060 plus £1,701 LW. 

Our client, a Further Education College specialising in land-based training, is looking to recruit a
Examinations Officer to be responsible for supporting academic staff in the delivery of their courses in administration of examination and similar systems.

Description of duties

Reporting to the Student Registrar, main duties and responsibilities:

  • Administering all processes involved in the administration of the examinations budget including monitoring budgetary expenditure against target.
  • Overseeing the administration processes associated with ordering and issuing examination papers and materials, including on-line arrangements, as required throughout the year
  • Ensuring that all student registrations for examinations are properly entered using electronic or manual processes.
  • Administering all examination procedures in liaison with Examining Boards and Heads of School / Vice Principal as appropriate including specific arrangements for students with special requirements.
  • Overseeing arrangements for invigilation, rooming and administration of examinations.
  • Safekeeping and storing of all examination papers in compliance with examination regulations to include the return of completed scripts.
  • Processing results and certificates and safe storage of certificates to await collection and notifying all students of course results.
  • Submitting examination papers (college devised syllabuses) to appropriate examiners as determined by the regulations of the Examinations Board. This comprises notifying Heads of School and Course Managers of the timeframe within which they should work, recording whether or not this is adhered to and reporting directly to the Vice Principal any drift in such timetables.
  • Submitting achievement data for the Individual Learner Record and providing achievement data requested by members of staff.
  • Supervising examinations and success data input for Key/Functional Skills, access database and Unit-e.
  • Responding to enquiries and queries regarding examinations from students, staff and external organisations.     
  • To be involved in the recruitment of staff as appropriate.
  • To carry out staff induction and training for Administrative Assistants supporting examinations’ administration.
  • To fully participate in and support as appropriate the student induction process.
  • To ensure the implementation of and service standards and to participate in regular quality reviews.
  • To maintain a safe and healthy working environment in accordance with the College's health and safety policies and procedures;
  • To manage associated budgets in accordance with College policies and procedures;
  • To produce information and statistical returns as required by funding agencies and the Senior Management Team;
  • To undertake any other duties and responsibilities of a similar nature as required.

 

Experience/special knowledge/job requirements

Successful candidates will need the following qualifications, experience and personal skills:

  • Minimum two years’ FE experience within a significant administrative function
  • Successful experience of managing well-defined processes relating to examinations’ administration
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop others in a pressurised environment
  • Good general standard of education
  • Level 2 qualification in business administration or equivalent
  • Ability to prioritise work in order to meet internal and external deadlines
  • Ability to process complex information provided in hard copy and through on-line data bases
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in order to communicate with staff at all levels, students and external organisations
  • Highly motivated, with a track record for setting high standards and sound attention to detail
  • Ability to devise creative solutions to complex issues
  • Sound level of numeracy at least to Level 2 standard
  • An understanding of and commitment to Diversity & Equality as it applies to a supportive service and in the workplace.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to creating a safe learning environment
  • Commitment to inclusive and comprehensive educational provision.

 

It is desirable for candidates to possess:

  • Level 3 qualification in business administration or equivalent
  • Higher level IT skills, with experience of working with complex databases
  • A clean driving licence and access to a vehicle

 

Hours: Full-time (36 hours a week): 8.45 to 5.00 (4.45 on Fridays)

Start Date: September 2010.

Learning Support Assistants (Term time only) - Enfield & Gunnersbury Park 

£9120.93 to £9970.35 (including payment for annual leave) plus £974.61 LW (This salary is based on 5 days per week)

Our client, a Further Education College specialising in land-based training, is looking to recruit Learning Support Assistants based in Enfield & Gunnersbury Park. The vacancies have opened due to previous staff moving on to other duties.

Description of duties

Reporting to the Deputy Head of Learning Support, main duties and responsibilities:

  • To assist in delivering vocational programmes and individual learning programmes to    students with a variety of learning needs, including learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
  • To assist teaching staff, with groups of students with learning difficulties, disabilities or behavioural and emotional needs both in classroom and other activities.
  • To support students with different learning needs in their everyday College life.
  • To liaise with Learning Support tutors and personal tutors regarding any difficulties the students may present.
  • To attend LSA meetings at least once a term. To attend at least one Student Progress Review meeting per term.
  • To attend Parents’ evenings where appropriate
  • To attend the School of Learning Support or other team meetings on a regular basis.
  • To produce accurate records of learning support activities in line with Additional Learning Support procedures.
  • To be responsible for ensuring that the health and safety of students is maintained at all times during the training sessions.
  • To assist with Learning Support interviews as requested by the Study Skills Coordinator and the Deputy Head of Learning Support if trained to do so.
  • To take part and support students on summer schools
  • Any other duties of a comparable nature as requested by the Deputy Head of Learning Support and Head of Learning Support.
  • To assist in the provision of Access Arrangements for examinations if trained to do so.
  • To assist in the promotion of courses through Advice Evenings, Activity days and other types of marketing events as requested by the Deputy Head of Learning Support and Head of Learning Support.

 

Experience/special knowledge/job requirements

Successful candidates will need the following qualifications, experience and personal skills:

  • Experience of working in an educational environment
  • Experience of working with learners with different learning needs
  • Good level of general education to Level 2 including Key Skills, particularly in literacy and/or numeracy and/or IT
  • Familiarity with ILT applications
  • Active interest in one of Capel land based activities
  • Good organisational and record keeping skills
  • Excellent motivational skills
  • Personal communication skills of a high order
  • Skilled in liaison with others
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Enthusiasm for working with challenging learners
  • Enthusiasm for working with young people

Hours: The posts are term time 36 weeks per year (including 2weeks to be worked in the summer).

The posts can be job shared and the numbers of days to be worked are negotiable, but for a minimum of 3 days per week and are for 5.5. hours per day.
