Learning Support at Capel Manor College

Head of School - Pamela Sladek
Our School of Learning Support offers Key Skills, Employability Skills, Basic Skills, Business Studies, advice, guidance, mentoring, counselling and support to all full and part-time students at all levels.

Although we don’t offer an ESOL programme, we do assist students for whom English is a second language through language support on their course.

All apprentices and students who are 16-18 years old will study Key Skills at the level they need.
Students over 19 are also encouraged to refresh and accredit their Key Skills alongside vocational study.

The HEAVEN Academy
(Horticulture Environment Animal Care Vocational ENhancement)
The Academy is based in the School of Learning Support. This initiative was launched in 2002 with DfES funding to provide an opportunity for 14-16 year olds to enhance their GCSE studies by gaining vocational qualifications and experience in horticulture, animal care and environmental studies. We have a growing number of partner schools across London in the project whose pupils benefit from our exceptional practical facilities and specialist staff.

We also run customised one-year and tailored programmes in partnership with a range of primary and secondary schools and link with Enfield’s Education Business Partnership in contributing to the successful STAR (Skills, Training and Re-motivation) project for 14 and 15 year olds.

The School of Learning Support also offers a programme of lunchtime sports and leisure activities.
