18 year old Luke Davis left school with nine GCSEs and subject strengths in art and English but he didn’t want to stay on at school. He’d really enjoyed his work placement with local company PN Landscapes where he still works and joined Capel Manor to do a BTEC National Diploma in Horticulture.
“I really wanted an outdoors career as I’d enjoyed my work experience so much. Landscape gardening seemed to be my best option and also allowed me to use my skills in art in a different way. I’ve gained so much practical knowledge here which is invaluable for my job. I was going to university next but I’ve decided that I’m actually better off financially carrying on at Capel.”
Luke plans to study part time for a garden design diploma as well as countryside management, and plans to open his own landscaping company one day.
