Further Education

If you are applying for a Further Education course you will not have to pay tuition fees if:

• You are under 19 on 31st August 2008.
  
  
• You are over 19 and receive, or are dependent on someone who receives, the following income-based benefits:
  
  
• Income and contribution based Job Seeker’s Allowance
  Income Support
  Working Tax Credit
  (current household income threshold is £15,050)
  Housing Benefit
  Council Tax Benefit
  Pensions Credit (Guarantee Credit)
  
  (When you come to enrol you must bring recent - no more than one month old - documents confirming your income-based benefit.)
  
  
• You are an Asylum Seeker in receipt of an income-based benefit
  
  
• You are over 19, a UK citizen living in England or Wales and do not have a full level 2 qualification (5 GCSEs at grades A-C, NVQ 2 or equivalent) and are enrolling on a First Diploma, NVQ 2 or National Certificate level 2 course.
  
  
• You are over 19, a UK citizen living in England or Wales and are enrolling on any of our full-time National Certificates or National Diplomas (Horticulture, Garden Design, Animal Management, Arboriculture and Countryside Management).
  
  
• You are aged between 19-25, a UK citizen living in England or Wales and enrolling on your first full level 3 qualification. (At Capel Manor, Saddlers may benefit from this DIUS waiver.) There is no automatic fee waiver if you receive disability living allowance or incapacity benefit - which is not means tested - but the college has discretion to pay fees from our Learner Support Fund. Please let us know if you wish to apply for a discretionary waiver.

Students over 60 are offered a 30% discount on tuition fees.

Please note that this list is subject to annual revision and is given only as a guideline.

Where students have pressing cash-flow problems, the College may agree to accept full-time tuition fees in two equal instalments - one at enrolment and the second twelve weeks later. Student Registry can provide further information.

Higher Education

The College's HE fees are determined by our partner, Birkbeck College, University of London. The standard national rate is increased by a top-up fee agreed by the University of London with OFFA. The Access Agreement (available from the college and on the OFFA website) gives details of how the additional fees are used to support the HE programme and individual students on it.

Overseas Students

Overseas students are those who have not been normally resident in the UK or another EU country for the three years prior to the start of the course. (Please note that renewed student visas do not meet the criteria of ‘normally resident’.) There is an annually agreed tuition fee for overseas students. For the year 2008 - 2009 this will be £6,640.

Higher Education fees for students of all ages combine registration fees with tuition fees. Major registration fees for all Further Education students under 19 on 31st August 2007 are paid by the College. All students aged 19 and over (including those exempt from tuition fees) are required to pay registration fees. Registration fees are payable in full at the time of application.

The college reserves the right to cancel any course before it starts in the unlikely event of low recruitment. In such circumstances any deposit or fee paid will be refunded.

If you withdraw your application before 22nd August 2008, you are entitled to a refund of the tuition and registration fee less an administration charge. If you withdraw after this date, you will not be entitled to a refund unless the course has been cancelled by the College. All refund requests must be made in writing. The full refunds policy is available on request from Student Registry.

We believe the best results are achieved from a partnership between the College and all those who use its services. The Students' Charter sets out what you can expect from the College. A copy is given to all students at enrolment and copies are available to all from Reception at all centres, from Student Registry or from your course manager.
